I wasn't sure if this should be ion this forum or the EMERGENCY forum

In the last few days I've found a few of my fish in the 55 gallon tank d.ead. They were 3 Angels (body size about a 1/2 $ size or slightly larger) and a Serpae Tetra.
The only fish that I have noticed having aggressive tendencies towards the Angels and Serpae in the tank were the 2 Yoyo loaches (about 1 inch to 1 1/4 " long) and a 1 1/2" Rainbow shark (Black body and all fins are red). The other fish that I have in the tank besides the remaining Angels and Serpae are clown loaches, small cory catfish, and a Synodontis catfish.
I have tested the water and found excellent readings for the Amonia and Nitrite. I have not added any new fish within the past month or so.

Is it possible (probable) that either the Yoyo or the shark are the culprits ?

It's doubtful, but if they were aggressive they could attribute to their demise, but wouldn't outright kill them just like that.

When you say "excellent" what are the exact readings? And what test kit are you using?

Yo-yo loaches shouldn't be aggressive, butI would try and up the numbers. They are meant to be kept in groups, as large as possible but at least add another one. The unnatural aggressive behaviour is because iof the small group, they can be slightly "boisterous" or "playful" at times, but nothing that would be described as "aggressive".

I have two and they aren't aggressive, but I will be getting more whenever I have the chance.

Yes, they are extremely playful and that's why I hope it's not them, since I really don't want to get rid of them.
The readings on an API test kit were 0 ppm (on both test).

I have a very dear friend that lives near you in Glenrothers Fife

Is this a liquid test kit or stip test kit? If they are bottles, are you sure they are in date? (lot numbers tell you the production date and the ammonia one is good for 3 years after this and the nitrite one for 5 years).

What species of syno is it? (synos can sometimes eat fish, but only really if they can swallow them whole so you wouldn't find bodies).

How long had these been in the tank for? How come there was only one serpae?

Cool, if they keep fish maybe they will be on here too, there a few people on here from there methinks :).

It looks like the test kits are still within the dates.

The Syno (Eupterusa) has been in there for about 3 years, since I had Africans in there before it was a community tank.

There are 10 or 12 Serpae in the tank, but olnly one was dead.

No, my Scot friends are not "fish people"
