Hi

I've just moved house and couldn't bring the cabinet that my fish tank used to stand on.

I have a metal base for the fish tank (came with it 2nd hand), but when actually using it for the first time, it's actually smaller than the base of the fish tank, and theres no support in the middle. Would this cause any pressure/issues on the fish tank? The bottom is a suspended glass base.

I also have a wooden table, but again its slightly shorter in width than the tank.

Pics attached (hope this works);

Thanks

it looks like you have the metal stand on it's side. And I wouldn't use that table to hold the tank..

haha thanks, i don't think it is on its side, its only got four legs at the bottom.  And the table is sturdier than it looks in the picture, but i agree with you, i'm probably not going to use that either.

Looks like i'm going to have to have a re-think!

We have very limited space in our apartment and I have 3 daughters, ages 15, 18 and 22. Along with 4 year old twin grandsons....the traffic level and boisterousness is high. The only safe places right now for us that are safe are on top of bureaus/hutches/chests of drawers. Maybe something like that could work?

Just make sure the tank isn't overhanging whatever your setting it on. Depending on the size of the tank (weight), sturdiness may be an issue down the line especially with wooden furniture.

The glass front, back and sides of the tank need to be properly supported. Don't even think about using that flimsy ikea table it will end in disaster! A sturdy (solid) chest of draws would work if the top was larger than the base. Cheap flatpack furniture is no good.
