Ok so I am a newbie and I don't know the official name for the white dot looking thing on a pregnant fish's abdominal region. It's right below (I think) where the babies come out, and I do know that it is swollen out to where you can see it when she is going to deliver soon. My question is:

Once the white thing comes out, how soon do they normally deliver?

Well usually it's black, and it's called a gravid spot. This spot is right behind the stomach area. Click on the Gravid spot link below. This is a picture of a guppy, but you will get the same idea.

Usually it is not long until they will have the babies, it depends on the fish and the water, and environment.

Best of Luck!!

Thank you so much for the reply! I was hoping I would get a reply on this one, not having the best luck elsewhere. I see what you mean on the link you gave, the only problem is that my molly is black so it would be difficult to see something like that. Also, the spot isn't a color like in the picture, it looks more like a tiny white, round thing someone stuck on the underside of her belly, so right by where her poop comes out (sorry to be so graffic). I know it's common with pregnant fish and I've been told that it is something that swells up with them to show they are going to deliver soon, I just don't know what "soon" means, haha. Maybe time will tell
