I was just wondering if it is okay to leave my Bettas tank light on all the time...Or if I should turn it off in the morning and on at night, or vice versa.... And just a little update on people who remember me, but doubt they would. Ghost and Ivan both passed away.... I burried them outside by our oak tree. Ivan passed because of old age (4yrs) but Ghost was the real mystery.... I changed his water and he just started acting crazy, swimming wildly and on his side a bit. After I came home from school he was dead  But now me and my sister have two new ones. Tips (mine. Crowntail very beautiful!!! He is a light blue and his fins and tails are dark blue to red and the tips(hence his name) are all white) and Pyro (my sisters, he is orange and his tail is a darker orange so thought that name fitted him) So anyhoo thanks for the help!!!

Hiya J.. I usually turn my bettas light off at night just before I go to bed..Along with my other tanks too.. :good:
Your new bettas sound nice.. x

Hey Heather :) Yeah I was thinking I might just turn it off at night so he can sleep and know that it is night ya know? So he won't get confused lol. Thanks!! They are beautiful, just glad to have another Betta... When the other boys passed I was heartbroken, didn't think I would get so attached to a fish, but I did. Also, I don't have a heater, as of yet (no $$ right now) but the temp. reader says it is between 78-72 F like the green is on 78 the blue on 72 and little color on the 80. So is that a good temp for them?? And the light also gives him more heat, I have noticed, so that is why I wondering about keeping it on all the time until I have the money to buy a heater.

My tanks are usually around 26-27 degrees... During the summer months I can get away without using a heater.. But its getting alot colder now at night so Iv got the heater back in.. :good: x

Yeah I am getting a tiny heater today!! YAY! I only have a 1 gal. tank so is there a heater for those?? I've only seen 5 and up.

J_Byrd, gonna sound really weird here - but is you're name by any chance Julia? MSN names making me think so.. :shifty:

edit: and the fact you've got horses listed in ya profile lol

This might help a bit.

In Jai's 1.5 gallon tank I use a Hydor Junior 7.5W heater (also available in USA!). I turn the heater ON at night and the lights OFF. Then by day, to maintain the temp, I turn the heater OFF (because he's in the kitchen, we have 7 spotlights and it makes the room warm anyway) and the light back ON.

Well I went to all 3 Pet Stores we have here and wouldn't you know it?! No one has heaters good enough for my tank!! :( That is just my luck.... With the light on the temp. stays at 78 but when I turn it off it starts dropping to 72....So....I don't know what to do! Should I just leave it on all the time until one of the stores get a suitable heater for my tank??? Thanks! :D
