Ok, I just got my new pre-drilled 90-gallon tank setup, which includes a ProClear 75 trickle filter and external pump. My question is this, are the trickle filters suppose to be loud? I can hear my trickle filter on the other side of the house and I’m thinking it is a bit excessive. Also I noticed that the filter kit came with a 6ft hose that hooks up to sump from the tank and it also came with a return line that is 4ft long. I also noticed in the installation instructions that it shows my filter being hooked up to an overflow box, which I do not have since my tank, is pre-drilled. Could the hose being too long cause the water to surge and be extremely loud? Would it help if I bought a shorter hose?

Thanks for you r help.

OK im kinda new to the sump thing, but here is an obvious question. How full do you have the water in the tank? rather how high, since your not using a overflow box that would suppy a constant supply of water to the pump, Do you have the water level COMPLETEY above the drilled holes so that no air is getting in? Again its an obvious ? but its what popped in my head.....Other than that I would suggest and Overflow box to actually make it a sump. The extra water there is benifecial as well as having a small "tank" hooked directly to the main lets you have things that cant go in the main tank down below. Hope this helps
