On my new secondhand tank, it is quite old and you can see all the glue at the top of the tank and the sides and the bottom? is this a problem? it shouldnt affect the tank or the water should it?

Also the glass on one side of the tank is slightly uneven, obviously when it was made they glued it slightly wonky only slightly though the glass is abit uneven and it hangs out alittle, but you can tell that the tank must be around 10 years old and the previous owner has only recently stopped using it, i wouldnt have thought that a glass being slightly uneven should not be a problem because it wont move anywhere or collapse or fall out will it because it would have been glued strongly? should i be worrying about this or not?

Shouldnt be a problem matey-i have a second hand tank too for a quarantine and it never bothers the fish at all :D

The only thing i am worried about is the fact that on one side of the tank up until halfway up the tank it is glued straight but the other half obviously when it was made it was glued wonky and the glass hangs out quite a bit, obviously it should be ok, i'm not worried as long as the tank doesnt collapse or fall apart lol but obviously the glue to hold the tank together has to be very strong.

Regarding the glue as i said above i can see all the glue around the top, bottom and sides this isnt a problem is it? it wouldnt affect the water or fish at all would it?

you can see the silicone in brand new tanks too. I don't think that should be a problem as long as we are talking about the same thing here. I would definitly fill the tank up outside and let it sit for a day or too and keep track of the water level. check for any leakage. If the water level goes down a little bit it could be because of evaporation but if there are any wet spots around the seams it would really make me worry about using the tank.

I second this. And maybe some newspaper under the tank so you can see any water/leaks.

I was trying to think of something you could put under the tank...thanks for that. Newspaper is a good idea.

This is a picture of one side of the tank:-

The previous owner had it like this for 6 years and said he never had any problems, the tank is like this on both sides, obviously like i have said above when it was made it was glued slighlty wonky as some of the glass hangs out what do you think after looking at the pic?

I dont think that tank is going anywhere, it looks solid enough, i dont think it would fall apart or collapse at all, i wouldn't worry about it.

Well i have had my new tank setup since yesterday, it has not leaked any water, it seems fine, i haven't really got any opinions of the picture that i have put on here, are alot of tanks glued together abit wonky like mine? i was wondering how strong is silicone?

I can't really see much in the picture.
could you take another with a bit better lighting?
