I got 5 mollies today, 2 males and 3 females. I have one i suspect is pregnant, but not terribly so. She's more "plump" than the others and is kind of off on her own most of the time. All but one of them are black, the other is a yellow/orange/almost golden color with black marbling (he's one of the males).

My question is, how much should i feed them? I dropped a flake in and they gobbled it up as if they were starving, and i dropped a few more in and they hoovered that too. I'll not be feeding them any more tonight, but should i feed them once a day or twice a day?

I originally went in to pick up Guppies but they were so expensive ($4 each) and they only had males. I wanted a live bearer and they had plenty of mollies, so i got these delightful little fellows. I forgot how much i liked mollies.

I'll be getting probably 2 more females in the near future, because i think 2 males on 3 females might drive the girls crazy!

Thanks for any and all input! ^_^

normal male - female ratio is 1 male to 2 females. me personally i had 1 male to 4 females because thats what i ended up with. i brought them blind and sexed using a guide on here.

a flake? as in 1 single flake? i read a fishes stomach is as big as its eye, i could be wrong though. i normally feed a little pinch wait till its all gone then feed another, but i have about 10x the fish. id just feed a little pinch and scoop out whatever doesnt get eaten in a minute or 2.

lol yes I started with literally just one flake to see if they were even hungry. Then I gave them a pinch, but i didn't want to over do it.

Thanks for your reply ^_^

I feed my fish 3 times a day ( not every day ) this is because I've been expecting baby's which I've got up this morning to another 10 this morning but then I've got 12 adult mollies now 27 fry 4 weeks old to not even a day old guppies and 6 Micky mouse platy's.

And trust me nothing is left to waste in my tank and I have a half orange half black Molly that is female and she dropped last night.

And as said above give them a pinch and after a few mins just scoop up whatever they don't eat but generally I've not known any Molly's to leave anything as they are greedy lol
