I have a Juwel Record 70 tank and the lighting is quite bright. I imagine this will be unsettling for the fish, so is it a good idea to disperse the light a bit? If so, what do you recommend to achieve this? It's been suggested to me that it would be worth getting some floating plants (probably artificial) to float on the top and take the sting out of the light.

Here are a few pictures of the tank:

I'm looking to put a betta in there, 6 cherry barbs, 6 harlequin rasboras and a bristlenose catfish.

Thanks.

It doesn't look too bright, I believe it's actually just a 15w bulb - which is very low for a 70l tank. That bubble stream on the other hand could bother the betta.

If your betta is fine with it, then all is well. If you decide to add floating plants, I would suggest live ones. They're very hardy and will give you some extra filtration.
