well ive got my new 130 watter aqualight and im wondering if it needs to be on legs to help with water temp or can i keep it over the glass cover.i seem to be experiencing green cloudy water.all the algae is turning brown and comes right off when i vaccuum the leafs with algae, but grows right back looking brown and dead.ive never seen algae look brown and dead so im wondering if it is dead or some other kind of algae bloom.i just got a new fluval 205 filter because i was also having this problem with my old eheim filter.seems like my filter keeps cycling but should have settled by now since i used my eheim media to start this new filter. water temp is 80degrees with this light sitting on the top of the glass cover.im wondering if this is causing the problem.i had the same problem with temp on my old light though. things were okay then.it has just turned rather hot now with spring here.do i need this on legs to keep the hot air from my water? im pretty sure the temp during winter when my tank was presentable was only slightly cooler.like 5 degrees.any help is appreciated.thanks...dan

If there is no noticable increase in the tank temp or one that can be controled by lowering the heater then rest it on top. Might just be a case of try and see.

A pic would probably help us, help you :)

oh no...no pics..im toooooo embarrased to show this thing now :D
i went from a nice beautiful healthy green tank to nice beautiful healthy green brown water
the funny thing is i had two lights resting on top of the tank when this started and from time to time the tank hit 83degrees so i couldnt figure if my heater was wacko or my filter was causing this because it was getting clogged up and barely filtering,or was it my lights..since then ive replaced the lights, filter, and heater.
