This is my first bout with Ich and I have read everything I could find about it but I still have questions.
I have several different species in my planted 28 gallon tank plus shrimp. Only my tetras have Ich and I began treatment with Kordon's Herbal-Ich Attack as soon as I saw little white bumps on them. It has now been about 2 weeks- the fish that originally had Ich still do but no other fish has developed white spots.
How long are the cysts (the white dots) on the fish? Meaning, when they become tomonts do they fall off the fish?
I am assuming that this is the scenario: Since I started treatments at the moment I saw the spots the Ich has not been able to reproduce successfully - thus that is why there is no new outbreaks. The fish with white spots will eventually loose their Ich and after a couple of weeks I can stop medicating with the Kordon's Herbal Ich Attack. Does this sound like a sound theory to you more advanced fish people?
I will not use salt - there are too many conflicting messages on line about how salt will/won't kill plants. Same with raising the temperature.
thanks!
