Copied from tropical chit chat:

Hi,

I've had a few opaline gouramis in my tank for months, and they have an amazing and vibrant color. My favorite though, that shines brighter than the rest, is looking different today. His anal fin is slightly rust colored and less blue. Is this normal? I ask because although it looks different, I've seen pics of the gouramis with a light rust tint, so I'm wondering if this just happens with age.

note: this picture was taken this afternoon. Now, in the evening, the lower back of the body is darker and more noticable

Don't worry about it. Changes like that are normal as long as the fish isn't looking particularly pale or lethargic. The one in the pic looks fine color-wise. They often change if in breeding condition, if excited (eg: when eating or displaying) and at different times of day/light level.

i think that probly a blue gourami not an opaline im not 100% shore cuz opaline and blue gouramis are both color Morphs of the three spot typ of gourami and the opaline can look difrent cuz it tends to have the same colors as the blue but most pics i have seen have them more mixed colors and the dot in the center blurred maby you should try posting a new topic asking with that pic heres a site i have been to on the net its not that great other peepl on here have site that show the difrent color Morphs alot better cuz i have seen them posted now and then http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Gouramis,%20Br...%20Gouramis.htm oh if u did not care never mind i just thort i would add this

Fizban's correct - technicaly that's not an opaline. A lot of people use 'opaline' as a general term for all three-spots though. The same with 'blue' - some people use that instead of 'three-spot'.
