Hi, My convicts had just had a batch of eggs, they hatched out and now there are fry... this is their first time with eggs and there are about 20 fry... my question is that they apear to be free swimming but they are like just laying around in the gravel, some of them are like upside down in the gravel too, theyre not dead though... i also think that the parents may be eating the odd one, it this normal?

there hatched but not free swimming!!

if it's anything like what I'ved just been through the eggs hatched in about 3 days when i spotted them, then there were babies and after another few days the litle fry were swimming about with the parents guard,

My parnets have been very good and the fry are growing well.

They will be ok when they start free swimming. Just give them a little more time.

Convicts are good parents normally so i dont think you have too much to worry about. They may be eating a few if they are inexperienced but i shouldnt worry too much as they will learn. :)

Give it a few months and you will be over run with little uns. They are a little like rabbits.

:D thanks... how long should it be after they hatch before they are free swimming?

good parents isnt the world, they would die for the little suckers  they just wont stop moving them around the tank

This was just what i wanted to ask :D My hondorun Red points have spawned(they are almost exactly like cons) and i was wondering when I should move the fry to another tank(they are about 3-4 days old now)

if the tank is big enough, you could leave them in there.

i did this and if it wasnt for those stupid jewels i would have about 100 cons, but thanks to them i only have one :(
