Question about fry?

hi,

my 2 female guppys are expecting fry this week as they been pregnant for 3 weeks now, this is my first time with fry and after reading the site a few days there is only one question i have left so i hope you guys and your experience breeding can help

Q: can the fry get sucked into my pump/filter as it seams 2 be a slightly strong current in my tank as my small flame tetra seams 2 be taken with the current in places. and if they do get sucked in will they be ok if i get them out???

any help is much appreciated

I've had fry get sucked into my filter and some lived and some didnt, the ones that lived i took them out and put them back in the tank and they were fine

Or even better, you should place either a piece of sponge (or stocking) around the intake tube so that there's no chance that they will get sucked in...

it depends on wat kinda filter u have, sum filters have these lil egg beater shaped things in then to chop up large solid materials (like fry) so they dont back up the filter, mine is fry safe, iv had a couple get sucked up but the survived ( how long i dont know, they all look the same to me.)

Hehe I simply ignored all filters except AquaClears and Emperior filters.. I guess I shouldn't do that...

Yep they can get sucked in... I stole my mom's pantyhose but she caught me in the act so she was like: What on earth are you diong with my pantyhose?? So im like er...stretching it and then trying it on?? so she's like er...i dont want it anymore and I cut it and wrapped it around the filter with an elastic band lol semper alawys laughs when she thinks of this story haha
