Hey all,
Have a male betta in a 2.5 gallon tank with a very small airstone, and some small silk plants on the bottom. was wondering if the males like any plants on the surface to make their bubble nests? or do they not like anything on the surface? any advice would be much appreciated... ;)

after reading my thread i make it sound like i have more than one. well i dont so now i feel better that i told you that.

Hi Poopseydrew! Thanks for the advice about the shrimp pellets, Fhergy loved them!

Now, on to your question. My betta, Dharby, loves his little silk plant. He has one that is tall enough to reach the top of his tank. It's got little "flowers" that rest near the top, and that is the only place in the tank where he builds his bubble nests.
I know that other people suggest using half of a Styrofoam cup to encourage nest building, so it seems they do prefer something at the top of their water for building on.

Hey phaedra,
I am really glad to hear the shrimp pellets are working for your adf. thanks for the good advice about the betta! I just got him and am already attached. I saw that you had athread offering people betta "pics" (not sure what they are called but they go on your profile) anyway if there is anyway you could make me a dark blue one that would be awesome. I am not sure what type of betta he is just a regular one i guess, but anything dark blue would suffice. if you dont have time or just dont feel like it please just let me know! Thanks for everything! :good:

my betta doesnt like the others seeing him finish so i get him plastic plants for the top of the tank
