Ok, question for you all. My female, Sealink, is filled to near bursting will eggs; she has her "breeding stripes" on and her oviduct is prominent. What I want to know is, will she release those eggs on her own without a male, and if not, is this bad for her to be so full of eggs with no release? Should I put her in with a male, let them breed, and then just get rid of the eggs before they start developing (I can't be having 100s of babies) so that she's not so loaded up? I had another female before her who was very sickly, and released eggs on her own then died the next day. I wasn't sure if she released the eggs because she was supposed to, or if something was wrong. Please any input would be great.

I recently put one of my females next to a male in a divided tank because I was moving everyone around. Within 2 days she'd dumped a load of eggs in her side and was looking much slimmer. I wouldn't put them through the stress of spawning just to rid her of her eggs. My girls usually just release theirs in their community tank as I sometimes see them lying on the sandy bottom.

If you think she's too big perhaps she could be constipated? try feeding a cooked shelled pea

Nope, she's pooping just fine - just saw her pass a BM. I'll try putting her tank right next to male's. Thanks. ^^

somtimes if mine get to loaded with eggs she will just drop them but i dont think it will hurt her to be so full of eggs

Hi, im not so sure about this matter either, so mayb one of the pros cud help us both out and explain! lol

im hoping that they wont get ill because of holding so many eggs, but ive never seen them drop ne, so mayb i sud start looking more closerly!

Mmm, well, I found a couple of eggs in the substrate when I vaccumed yesterday, but she's still awful full. Just so I know should it seem to be happening, what do you do for eggbound females?
