Is dropsy contagious????? Some have said yes and some have said no...so which is it????

I had a case of dropsy a few months back.
I believe it is not contagious a such but tankmates of the same species of the affected fish are more prone to contracting it.
Some species are more prone to dropsy than others, the fish that contracted it in my tank was a cherry barb and they are one on the "prone to it" list.
I kept a close eye on the other barbs but the were all fine and none have been affected so far.
Dropsy can be brought on by many things, ammonia/nitrite In water, ph swing, stress from bullying, bacterial infections, over use of medications, anything and everything basically!

Dropsy itself isn't contagious, because it isn't a disease, it's a symptom. It's like asking if a bad cough is contagious - if you have some sort of virus, then that is contagious - if it's because of lung cancer, it isn't contagious.
