My ammonia test shows up a very dark shade of aqua. I assume this is around the 8ppm level. NitrItes are still at zero, but the blue is very light. The nitrAtes are now up around 10ppm. Does it sound like I'm doing ok?

you, first need to give us more detail

what test kit do you have they all have

there on colors to show differnt things.

Are you doing a fishless cycle?

or a fish cycle?

Hi,NitrItes take a while to show up.Pacience is what you need if you are doing a fish less cycle.NitrAtes can be in your tap water, have you tested that.

If you are doing a 'fishless cycle' using the 'add and wait' method, you only need to raise the ammonia level to 5-6ppm...

I'm doing the "add daily" method b/c of my pleco. NitrAtes don't show up in my tap water- only lately in the tank that's cycled.

The test kit... I don't remember the name, but ammonia is all levels of green (yellow for zero), nitrItes are purples (blue for zero) and nitrAtes are orange/red.

I'm trying to be patient, I want s'more fishies lol
