Thanks

it depends on what fish your going to put in it, looking at your profile you onl have a 81L tank as it is so a 840L QT tank is overkill might as well use that as you main comuinity / species tank. none of my fish grow larger than 8 inch and i use a 60L and a 90l as my quarantine & Hospital tank. and the main community tank is a 165L

Hope this helps a little

Sorry if scott you got confused but what i am trying to say is the 840 litre will be the community

while the 84litre will be the quaratine

whats the biggest fish you intend to keep?

the tank may also come in handy as a hospital tank if fish need treatment.

what you need to think is can the biggest fish you're gonna get, when it's reached max adult size, live reasonably comofrtably in the Q tank for a couple of weeks?

the 81l tank should be plenty big enough then, just remember you can't stick the whole stocking for the big tank into the 81l tank at any one time. Work it on a light stocking so under 1" of fish per gallon. So it's roughly 20gal tank, so don't put much more than 15" of fish in it at any one time. :good:

You need to leave the stocking light because when fish are in the Q tank there's a high liklihood of a disease outbreak, to give them the best possible chance you want to ensure optimum conditions, so a big of extra water to fish ratio will help keep the water clean and the fish calm

I am thinkin of keeping small tetras, cories, and gouramis the largest fish I want will get to about 7.5cm (3inches)

hey steve think it was me having a bad day and acting stupid, read your pst again and it makes total sence.

from the stocking you have mentioned an 84L tank would be fine solong as its volume is made up in length and not height (rectangular tank and not "tall" tank) im guessing the gourami will be the largest fish you will have. do be careful with a large gourami with small tetras as my opaline thought that small tetras were food and tried to have one or two for dinner as they were small enough to fit in his mouth.
