Quarantine Tank

I have a 4 maybe 5 inch Black Ghost Knife that I need to medicate, would a 10 gallon quarantine tank be big enough to hold him for a few days.

Someone told me to use Melafix to medicate my BGK, they said I can use it in the tank it's already in, can I safely use it with other fish in it?

10gal is fine for his temporary home. Are the other fish affected by whatever it is he has??

We called the LFS guy, I neglected to mention it likes the heater, so he said what it's done is burned itself and he said to put the heater in a position it can't get to, and to medicate it if I wanted too, he said the fish would be fine either way. But I think I will since fish are sensitive to injuries.

Some Plecs are prone to burning themselves also, might be worth you buying a heater cage so that the fish cant actually touch the heater itself but sit on a shell around it.
