I have a Q about my light system i said in a prevous post at the front of my tank im getting a brown colour on the sand not an algue or anything im turning it over everyday and it comes back, the back, middle, sides of the tank of the sand is fine and never have to turn it over... is this a light problem?? Iv got t5 HO high glow tubes (thin) could one of the bulbs be gone? or jus the front one? iv only had the lights about 8-9months and not sure how oftern to change them! the lights are blue bulb on the back of the tank and white at the front.

I got a coral and some of the polups are not opening up propley iv tested the water and thats all fine so my last thought is the light? the corner of the tank is by a window im at a loss and keep being told diffrent things, any help would be welcome

cheers matt

What clean up crew have you got in there? i may be wrong but the brown sounds like diatons and if so some turbo snails will clear that up no problem :good:

Hope this helps good luck

yeah looks like diatoms, normally it will burn itself out after awhile. What kind of sand do you have and what are your water parameters like? There is a snail that lives in the sand that would help clear it up but I cant recall the name off the top of my head (think its nas....something).
