Well i used hairnets, plastic grid, and slate rock to do all this. All was pretty easy except getting the hairnet tight enough around it all. Kept hangin up on plastic and slate. But here it is in the 10g. Guess ill have to finally cycle the tank and throw some more plants in there.

water a little cloudy from stirring up some sand. But not bad for day 1

do you think dwarf frogs would get caught up in the hairnet if i put a few of them in?

well its not that, i just had a plec get some fins caught up in it before and was a pain to get him out

Ohhh. The hairnet's not pulled down tight enough, then? :/

I'll refer to an old adage then: when in doubt, don't. :D

Plan B, i have some eco complete substrate left from planted i might throw in...this might give me enough to cover up the bottoms of the riccia bases where i dont have to worry about it. And, might give some unique color to subrstrate, black on white sand mixing after awhile that is.

I think a riccia covered substrate would look cool! Something a bit different too, bit of a pain retying it every few weeks but worth the effort IMO :)

going to throw in some lilly bulbs in the morning...going to make it a dwarf frog tank. Next will be to try and find another good flowering plant to go with the lilly's. Will keep everyone updated on progress. 1 rubberlip plec will be with the frogs. He is my small rubberlip (think he was stunted from growth when he got sick when young). I bought him at 2" 4 months ago and he is still only 2" hehe. But should do fine in the 10g without having to compete with the larger rubberlip that bully's him.

once it fills out, i only have room to put in a few bulbs of lilly's and maybe 1 or 2 other plants. Otherwise, bottom is COVERED. pics are kinda decieving, there is only a few inches in places to plant anything else, and the lilly's will take up 2 of those leaving me with only a couple more to fill.
