I have a breeding pair in a 29gl tank, a male in a 55gl tank and another male is a 75gl tank. I bought them all about four years ago, and they have never had any signs of illness. They have not been in the same tank in excess of a year (lg male angels don't exactly get along). Within a couple of weeks of each other all of the males now have white pustules popping up on them. Not alot and random in locations. I tried parasite clear in one tank (treated twice) and it seemed to cure the problem, now it's back again! None of their tank mates are showing any sign of illness? Any idea on what this is and what I need to do to cure it? We change water and vacuum the gravel about once a month. Filter changes are done every other week.

Sure it not a breeding sign.
Can you describe them.

Well the breeding pair have mated several times and I have never noticed this. It looks like a white pimple here and there. I know it's not ich (been there and done that). It seems to be coming out of them, not external. I just think it's strange that it's just the male angels, all about the same time and all in different tanks. There is no other sign of illness. They are eating and swimming as normal.

Can you get a pic of them?
As for it spreading do you use the same nets, buckets etc on all tanks as this can cross contaminate?

Are they blisters on the skin or do they come up from underneath and pop open?

What do you feed them?

It could be sporozoan

I will try this evening to get a picture. Yes, use all the same equipment. Have not used a net in sometime in any of the tanks. The only thing I can think of that goes into all the tanks is the siphon for the gravel vacuum. They are all fed tropical crisps and shrimp pellets. The pimple looking things come from inside. You can see where they have broken the skin coming out. Again, the fish do not act sick in anyway.

Thanks for any help. Meds can get very expensive and I want to make sure I am attempting to treat with the right one.

It could be bacterial then so i suggest doing water changes and adding maracyn amd amaracyn2 together.
Its vital the water is really in good condition before you medicate so check for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate before you start.
I suggest as well you get the tanks their own equipment so you dont transfer bad bacteria between tanks.

A pic though would be good to see
