my girlfriend was at the local LFS the other day and she said she seen a purple looking african cichlid and she was posotive it was a cichlid ....any ideas what it might be?

:/

It is probably a krib (Pelvicachromis Pulcher). There are also a few Rift Lake species (some mbuna, peacocks, etc.). that can be purple (or purplish), but they wouldn't be as commonly found as kribs.

Could be a Pseudotropheus Elongatus, the younger males can look purpleish sometimes rather that the usual blue.
