Hi all. This is kind of a repeat post so I'll try to be brief. Currently have a 250 ltr planted discus tank using purigen in the external. New 300ltr tank currently maturing. I thought about peat and Blackwater extract in a second external, with fine polishing media for a more natural aesthetic look. Read a bit about purigen will remove most of the tannins, humic acid and other natural organics thus rendering the combination pointless. What I cant decide on is peat and Blackwater or purigen. Any thoughts most appreciated, thanks

For what reason are you currently using the Purigen?

Improved water quality. I use r/o corrected with pro discus mineral. I add macro/micro ferts and have a seachem denitrate filter running.

As you're using RO, I don't think you really need to be running the Purigen, tbh, especially if you're using a denitrifier as well.

Fair enough matey, thanks. I'll go with the peat and Blackwater.
