hi dose any one know where in suffolk i can buy a some Pure ammonia form to start my fishless cycle
i went to homebase but no luck

........or Boots.

Did you ask in Homebase or try to find it yourself?

Usually shops like to keep a low profile about selling ammonia as it is used in making bombs and crack cocaine. Usually if you ask, they just say they don't stock it, but if you look in the cleaning products..............Voila!

BTT :good:

i did look and ask but i'll try b&q next i need some cos iv just got my new tank and test kit

Sticky - I picked some up at HomeBase a few weeks ago. It's with the cleaning products - Toilet, sink, bath etc - in a white bottle with a blue lide and is simply called "Household Ammonia". Cost me about 2 quid I think. I did have to ask though.

I tried B&Q and they didn't even know what it was.

I've finished cycling and still have most of a Homebase bottle left.
I'd like to keep some back, but if you have a spare strong bottle (tamper proof lid etc) you could post it to me with a return envelope/jiffy.

I guess the Royal mail will have an issue with it, like everything these days it seems, but can anyone else see an issue with posting it?

I am suggesting a strong bottle here, not pouring ammonia into an envelope and posting it.

I can see issues with posting ammonia.

Its a very corrosive and potentially dangerous substance. I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually illegal to post it, but i'm not sure of the actual law.

It shouldn't be too difficult to find. Most people in the UK usually get it from either Homebase or Boots.

Yep homebase is where I get mine, but if you cant find it in any of the major chain stores, try a local DIY place, they often have some :good:

Ive heard of people using jeyes kleenoff, but Im not sure its the same thing, can anyone clarify that?

thanks for all your replys and help i have found some now
so i have my new tank my black garvel my test kit my waters in i'm cycling yepeeee

having beena postie for 7yrs i can tell you now that it would not be a good idea to post that it would cause a massive security alert if anything leaked etc.
