Urinate in a bucket?? lol I'm joking, you can buy pure ammonia for cycling.. don't know where though. Someone does on here though

Hi,

Pure ammonia is a very corrosive substance and is very dangerous. It is used for making bombs and the likes. What we use for cycling tanks is a product called 'Household Ammonia'. It is a mixture of ammonia and water, usually with an ammonia content of around 10%. If you are in the UK, the best place to source it seems to be Homebase. You will find it amongst the cleaning products.

I have pure ammonia get it from work used in refrigeration systyms and boy does it clear your lungs out none of this stuff you buy of the shelf crap

when we work with the stuff we have to wear b/a as its highly dangerous

Hi Aluno,

The best way to calculate the amount of ammonia is to to click on the 'Aquarium Calculator' at the top of the screen. It will calculate it for you. I believe the Homebase ammonia is 9.5% ammonia. You'll need this for the calculator.

If you're interested in how to calculate it, post the size of your tank in litres and i'll show you.

12x18x15 is that an ok size for a breeding tank and will a box filter be better or should i stick with my fluval 1

If you do get hoousehold amonia it works great as a pesticede (4 outside of cores), and fertalizer for your lawn.
