I was wondering if anyone has used this phosphate remover or something similar? I have a hob filter with a sponge, filter floss and biomax balls. The instructions say to use about 1 tablespoon for every 50 gallons and place it in a mesh bag. 1 tablespoon doesn't seem like much. Where's the best place to put the mesh bag in the filter?

Phosphate (PO4) removal shouldn't be necessary in a healthy planted tank.

I was told to keep my phosphates as low as possible. My phosphates are around 2 ppm. I'm injecting C02 and my plants are growing fairly quickly, but I'm getting green spot algae. I've reduced the number of fish also.

Your CO2 is low.

I have 2-3ppm of PO4 and no green spot algae, I only get GSA when the CO2 drops or the PO4 drops down.

CO2 is 90-95% of all folk's issue with algae that use CO2 gas.

My C02 is around 30 - 35 ppm which isn't low.
