anyone know any good ideas for stopping the pump from slipping down the wall of the tank - ours doesnt seem to want to stay put! :
also we seem to have grown thousands of snails out of nowhere - does anyone know how to get rid of these? any better methods than trying to just pick them off the sides of the tank?

:dunno:

A clown loach or dwarf puffer will take care of the snails. Dwarf puffers are the cutest little things. Do some research before getting either, though, as loaches can get pretty big and dwarf puffers are really vicious little things.

If cleaning the pads doesn,t work new pads are easy to get at any pet shop.
As for snails, it realy depends on the size of your tank.
if you have room for more fish try the botia route,
Chained Loach (Botia sidthimunki), zebra loach (Botia striata), yoyo (Botia almorhae)
are all good snail assasins for smallish tanks but most prefer to have company of there own kind.
Clown loach (Botia macracanthus)should only be an option for a large tank.
If you cant add any fish you could try addin a piece of lettuce over night, when you remove it it should be coverd in the little bleeders.
