What are the plants and is it brackish? If so I was considering putting plants in, but wasn't sure what would be safe for brackish....

The tank is 48x12x18 and the plants are java fern and another one which I forget. I got the plants when it was freshwater so I dont know how long they will last although I am told that java fern will tolerate salty water.

My book says that a 3 foot tank is fine for one figure eight?
