When i turn on my lights in the morning, my green spotted puffer and mono are a dark color, almost a brownish color. after the light is on for a few minutes and they start waking up, their colors start coming back and then they are normal color again. is this normal???

Can't speak for the puffer, but that's perfectly normal for the mono. They turn dark grey at night and also when stressed or sick.

Cheers,

Neale

Yep, normal for the puffer too.

All puffers are able to regulate skin tone and use it in aggression, courtship, hunting and defensive behaviour as well as indicating emotion, health & stress levels.

Here's our Brown Puffer (T.Turgidis) when stressed during a water-change.

And here's the same fish half an hour later. Happy now!

I am convinced that's a black labrador! Looks lovely.

Same thing happens to my GSP and I figured out that is when she is tired and is under her little silk plant she sleeps under but when awake it doesn't take long for her colors to brighten up again. I thought something was wrong with her too when I would see her belly grey and then be ok. Not to long ago, had to move her upstairs into the spare room, since my room was too cold, new rug going into frontroom. I moved her about a week after, did not want to stress her out and move her the next day after rug was done. She was always grey because she was depressed, all alone in the spare room, she did not like it at all. But once I moved her, gave her a water change and put in crushed coral she was all happy and bright in color. She is healthy and happy puffer and soooooooo cute
