I'm thinking of getting a few of these fish, so I've been doing lots of research--there's just one thing that confuses me. There seems to be a general consensus in most pages I've researched that they should have at least 40 gallons of tank space, but they don't say how many can be stocked in that amount of space. I'm thinking 1 male, 4-6 females. Can anyone clarify this for me?

Thanks

You're not planning to put anything else in that tank right? If so I think it would be ok.

No, for that amount it would be a single species tank. Thanks!

Sounds good - many would say you have room for more. You might just want to start with a group of 10-12 and let them sort it out - you won't be able to sex them anyway, and as a species tank it's very possible to have more then one male in the tank.
