ive seen these before but ive never took much notice of them, dont know much or anyone who has them and today thought id buy a couple to add to my tank. anyway, they've been in there now for quite a thew hours and my other fish (mbuna of different sorts) are nibbleing at them as they swim buy !! as tho they're trying to eat them

are they blind ? they're only inch each long maybe an inch 1/2. i dont know what to do ? ive got a feeling they're not going to survive till the morning. i hate it when things like this happen  , im currentley having abit of trouble with my Cynotilapia Afra accepting a couple of red Metriaclima Estherae's. not as bad as these albino's though !!

They're not blind, just albino.

Are the other fish just pecking at them, or are they actually biting off their fins?

The next mbuna tank I do will include albino socolofi, they're great fish, but I imagine the reason they are getting picked more than other fish you have added is because they are albino. Albinos rarely survive in the wild because they are so visible, lacking the camoflague the other fish have.

What did you do when you added them? What I mean is did you move around some rocks to break up territories, feed the other fish before adding the new arrivals, keep the lights off? It's often difficult to add new stock to an adult mbuna tank because the reigning adults have already staked out their territories.

Do you have another tank you can move the socolofi in to recover. Then you could try rearranging your tank before re-adding them.

ok, thanks for the info.

well, he/she died an hour after posting this thread. they were were both pecking at and biting its fins off. the other one is fine though !! its only small but seems to be coming along. so, i dont know what happened there then ???

when adding any new fish, i always turn the light off and do the 'water temp/ph/ect procedure'. although i dont feed the other fish before new arrivals, not for any reason, just that i never thought of it. im guessing its a good idea to do so ??? i also do swop a thew rocks about.

Sorry your one fish died. I've found it sometimes helps to feed the other fish in the tank before adding new ones, they seem to be less fractious when their bellies are full.
