Quick question folks - I have some cabomba in my 35L tank and it looks great as it is at the moment but I am aware that it can shoot up pretty fast so I'm wondering how you would prune it. Obviously you wouldn't want to cut the top straight off as it wuld lose the rounded shape at the top but I wouldn't want to have to pull it all up to cut it at the bottom every couple of months either as that would cut all the roots off, not to mention making a big mess.
How should I prune it?

most people simply cut it with a pr of scissors. Cut the stems about 10inches long starting from the top. The plants look pretty crap for a few weeks afterwards but it quickly recovers.

Tip
If you cut it 10 inches above the substrate depending on the hieght of your tank it comes back as one, but if you clip it about 1-2 inches above the substrate It might send a double shoot out where it was pruned!

cutting off the top makes the bottom half produce side shoots and bush out.

replanting the top half will grow straight up.
