.........of 10 Platy fry! :D :D

Noticed them last night after watching the rerun of Jenson's fantastic win :yahoo:

I've netted them and placed them in a breeder trap, until they get big enough not to get eaten!

Pictures to follw soon. :hyper:

try and getanother smaller tank for them as breeder traps can stunt there growth

Thanks for the advice Smurfy, haven't got another tank. What I'll do is use a tank divider for awhile until they are big enough.

Then I'll have to give them away or sell them to my lfs, as my tank is on the limit for occupants.

Well make sure that your fishes in your main tank still have plenty of room when you put the tank divider. It would be wiser and more better for them to have their own tank. A 10 gallon will do with a bare bottom , a sponge filter and a heater will be fine

Thanks for the advice Rafael. The current tank is the only one i've got at the moment. My partner thought she was being helpful by cleaning my 12 gall and cracked it!

I'll use the divider for now, then let them fend for themselves. The survivors i'll sell or give away.

Thats what I do, survival of the fittest, usually all survive, I just put some decorative rocks in the tank in a small pile along the front of the aquarium and they hide in there till they are big enough, yet I can still see them swimming through the cracks of the rocks. By the way a 10g is only about $10 at walmart.. cheap.

Well it is very wise that you use the method survival of the fittest. But if you ever have any room try and save as many fry as possible. It is cool to see more than 50 fry in a 10 gallon tank. It is ever more cool to see alot of fry(50+) eat baby brine shrimp. I have 61 fry and my swordtail is going to give me more fry later this week. I will probably start the method of survival of the fittest because my 10 gallon fry tank will soon get overcrowded with so many fry being born every month.

I like the survival of the fittest thing myself..

Only the intelligent ones survive.. I give them places to hide.. if they find them and stay in them they will grow up..

Weeds out dumb weak ones.

vancouver i just spit my drink everywhere after reading that
