Protein Skimmer Pump

I currently have a Red Sea Max 250 and tonight I noticed that the skimmer pump was making a rumbling noise and not pumping any water.

I have taken it apart and there does not appear to be any damage. I have given it a good clean and put it back together but it is still making the same noise.

Any advice of what might be causing this? How long can you leave the system without a skimmer running without it causing problems?

It probably just needs a new impeller. I recently had to replace the impeller on my Redsea Prizm Pro. It quitened it down a lot.
