My betta is recovering from a recent attack of fin rot or having his fins bitten off...what's the best way to help his fins and scales grow back to the lovely color they used to be?

I dunno about color restoration, but BettaFix will help the fins re-grow. Also, if it was fin-rot, Tetracycline will kick its butt & allow his fins to heal, although many people are leary of using it since it's such powerful medication. But I think in a quiet environment & clean water, your betta's fins should grow back on their own.

How long does it take for a fin to repair itself/grow back?

Well, from my experience, I noticed a significant difference within a week, with the new, pale fin growth along the fin edges appearing after the first day of treatment. I'm not sure about how long it takes for everything to grow back, since the crazy little guy keeps tearing the new growth off every so often!

Best of luck with your little fella--I hope he's feeling better!
