As everyone knows who have been reading my posts about "white poop" and parasites ive been having very BAD luck with my fishes. I really dont know what else to do. It seems that ever since i got my tank ive had problem after problem after problem -_-
Im going to explain my problem once again and maybe get some more help. My fish (not all) have white poop. One of my neons has a swollen white belly and does not look like the others stomach wise. The only guppy fry I had (because the mother died after it gave birth - i think of parasites) died yesterday and today one of my mollie fry died too.
I have been treating (yet again) with parasite clear tank buddie tablets. It says to treat 3 times with 48 hours in between and a water changes in between as well. I have done that and some of my fish still have white poop. Some have partial white poop with brown poop others have full white poop, others seem fine with the brown poop. :/
Also some of my fish have just been chilling on the bottom of the tank in the gravel. Im assuming this cant be good either?
Anyways what im asking for is what other medication that i can get in CANADA can i use?
Thanks again :dunno:

For internal parasites one of the best meds I know is Metronidazole. It is available in Seachem brand from BigAls. If the fish are eating it should be used to make medicated food and feed 2x/day to the tank. No other food should be fed besides the metro treated food for 10 days to 2 weeks. If fish are not eating it can bedosed in the water but is not as effective this way.

It is a relatively benign med and will not harm bio and is difficult to overdose.

Ok, so the meds (in my opinion) wont work over night. Internal parasites are very difficult to iradicate. I want to ask a few questuions though. What do u feed your fish and How often? And how sure are u its internal parasites?

Could we have a link to the original thread?

TwoTankAmi - Thanks for the advice on the metronidazole. But I have a question. Is this a food or a liquid? How does each work? Like the liquid just goes in the water or do i put in on there food? Right now they get normal flake food 4 times a week and the medicated jungle fish food (for internal parasties) 3 times a week. And it says to use for a month the medicated fish food. I have three more weeks to go. I have used this food before (last month) and the parasites seemed to be gone so I bought some more fish and they were infected too..... I didnt have the heart to take them back because I knew the lfs would just flush them... I wanted to give them a chance ;) So anyways back to the food question - which food would I put the metronidazole on? Or would I have to discontinue the medicated food im using now?
Also if its food how big are the foods? Cause my fish wont eat it if its big but if I can crush it up then it will be ok.

mr_miagi32 - I feed normal flakes for 4 days once a day and the medicated food 3 times a week twice a day.
I think its internal parasites because of the white poop... Could the white poop be something else?

Thanks you guys

Well so far so good. I havent had to retreat my tank for parasites. It looks as though the white poop is gone. It may still be there but I havent seen any yet. :fun: If I have to retreat I will most likly be using the metronidazole. Thanks everyone :p
