ive been carefully adding my stocks to my tank and after cycling , my tank has has fish in it for about a month now i am having problems all of a sudden with water clarity, my water is going all murky and full of sediment where this has come from i dont know, even after regular water changes and regular filter maintenance the very next day its cloudy again, i have no idea where this sediment and cloudy water keeps coming from? its not down to decoration i dont think because i had the filter with everything in the tank running at least a month prior to addding fish and this wasnt a problem, hmmmmm can anyone help?

by the way i have no ammonia or nitrite present and i only have 10mg/ltr of nitrate present so my filter is doing its job well! :dunno:

Did this happen after adding new fishes? If this is the case, you are probably experiencing a small bacterial bloom - this normally goes away with typical aquarium maintenance, including regular water changes... You don't need to do anything special, especially if your water parameters are ok as you mentioned already.

yeah it has only happened recently after the introduction of 4 new fish, in my tank i have 2 small bits of mopani wood, but i kept these in a bucket for a few months before adding them to the tank to leach out all the dye, i only added them when the huge bucket i kept them in was clear as i kept changing the water daily, so i doubt it could be that.

Thanks for your help

What color would you say the cloudiness is?

If it's greenish, it's probably an algae bloom.
If it's more white, as yhbae said, it's probably a bacterial bloom.

Either should clear up in a few days. I'd do an extra water change or two and see if things clear up in a few days.
