Hello,

I have had my GSP for over 6mths now and its looking good at a little over 2".I had a few problems at first with me killing the good bacteria by adding to much salt but after a while I got it through it okay. I thought I was going to loose it as it did not look to good for a while but it picked up thank goodness. When I first got it it was in a 15G tank for about 4 mths and it use to hide in the corner and look at itself in the reflection on the glass. I had loads of decor in there with plenty for it to do. Added snails for it to hunt. It has always had a good appetite and it eats mussels ,live shrimp, bloodworms, prawns crab legs in fact its better fed than me.

I put the boredom down to the small tank. So in time I got my community vision 260 ready for it. It has been in there for nearly two months now and again lots decor good food and good hunting. Its still shy and going up and down the glass Its kinda starting to annoy me as its a good size tank for it but you hardly see it.

Is this usual and is there any more i can do?

I was in my LFS today and he said it was a shoaling fish(I belive not) and needed company. He said it was his own territory in the corner (which I belive ) and he needed to defend it from others?

Any Ideas on this.

Should I buy another GSP for the tank or I was thinking of a shoal of Columbian Sharks.

LFS is wrong! Not a shoaling species. They get very nasty as they age. Running on the glass is pretty normal for the first moth. It is because of boredom and stress. I would recommend keeping some "dither" fish. Dither fish are any small unimportant species of fish that the puffer can take out his aggression out on. Another puffer would be a poor choice.

Try Mollies, Knight Gobies etc as companions for him....Columbian Cat Sharks, as im sure you may know, get pretty large, so if you wanted to add a pair, an upgrade may be due for them in the future.
I had a breeding pair of Knight's with my GSP and they were fine together, the Columbians got a nipped fin here and there but that healed quickly and i had a couple of black mollies in the tank and one got absolutley smashed by the puffer one day...was totally tore apart...but after that, the others were never harmed.
