Hi,

I recently bought a fluval 205 external filter for my 4ft tropical tank. When I went to fit it, I found that my (somewhat antiquated) tank has a glass lip on both sides making it impossible to hook the input and outflow tubes. There is no lip at either end of the tank though, so the tubes can be attached there. Is it OK to have the input and outflow tubes only 8 inches apart?

Thanks in advance

Louise

my inlet/output tubes sit side-by-side. So long as your outlet is creating a nice arc of water that will circle around the tank and back into the inlet then the filter will be doing its job.

As zoddyzod said, mine are also right next too each other. I have the fluval 205 on a four foot tank and has worked very well for over three years in this position.
