I've been setting my tank up ready for my new Betta today :) Only trouble is the sponge filter I bought on Ebay (Algarde) is very noisy! The water coming out the top pipe makes a glugging noise which will soon become irritating when we are sitting watching TV. It connects up to an airpump. I had a Tetratec APS 50 which I used on my old 60L, which I put in my 190L, just to power an airstone which it does just fine. Anyway I bought a Tetratec APS 300 with the intention of using it to power the airstone in my big tank and the sponge filter in my Betta tank. This works fine, though the sponge filter is too noisy! It's a little better when just powered by the APS50, but still not quiet enough.
This is the one I've got: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...N:IT&ih=012

Any ideas?

....Any ideas at all? I would prefer to have a filter for him, but don't want such a noisey thing ...

my friend owns a betta and he uses an aquaclear 20(mini) with it on it's lowest setting. works fine and produces almost no current

Is that a powerhead? That's the only result coming up on ebay?

We use the Interpet Airvolution to pump our sponge filters and the filters are the ones from Modaz. We've got 3 tanks in our lounge and really don't notice them at all.

I don't really want to spend anymore money, already spent too much  Is it possible to put a bit of sponge on the top pipe do you think? May make it quieter?

Think I've sorted it. The problem was too much flow coming from the airpump, so I took the flow control valve off the line to my main tank and tried it on the Betta tank - voila - much better. Just got to track down another valve for my main tank as the bubbles are now going crazy in there!
