Problem Hair Algea

Hi all i have a piece of bogwood that i took out of my old tank a couple of years ago when i had a prob with hair algea

The wood as been in the shed ever since but still has dead hair algea attached to it how do i remove it before using this piece of bogwwod again,i have tried scrubbing but still a good few stubborn bits left .

I use a knife and wittle off the actual bits of wood with dead algae on it. Be careful with the knife, though.
