Priming My Eheim 2126

I have an Eheim 2126 thermofilter. Had to do my 3rd water change today since having it from new. It wouldn't prime and fill up the filter. In the end I had to take the top off and fill it by hand. I didn't expect it to stop working so soon although I know a lot of people have problems with different makes. Any idea's? Did I do something wrong maybe?

Did you press the BIG PRIMING BUTTON on top of the filter a few times to get it primed? If it failed to work I would guess you have something clogging it.

Yes I've pressed it, bit big to miss it

Try draining the hose with the spraybar, reattaching, and leaving it out of the water. Push the prime button with the intake in the water. Once it starts to fill, replace the spraybar.

If this doesn't work, drain the spraybar hose, reattach, and start it by giving a good suck on the spraybar hose, just like you would with one of the classics.

Well when it actually works ie the first couple of times its instantaneous. I've just read on the book that I might to vaseline the sealing ring, whatever that might be. It's all gobbledygook to me
