Righto back home now... Took water to be tested and yes nitrites were horribly high fter a w/c last night. Fish guy gave me water from his tank (2yr old tank) to water change mine again and a little bottle of prime.. He said a couple of drops in a 28l tank.. Is this enough?

as far as i know, yes! you hardly need any prime in tanks, lasts ages
Old tank water won't do a thing, unfortunately. You are better off using clean fresh dechlorinated tap water.
Although prime is supposed to detoxify nitrite, there is only really one way to deal with it and that is a large water change.

I'd suggest doing the large water changes and use PRIME as your dechlorinator. ;-) This will LOWER the nitrites, AND detoxify what's leftover.
When you say "horribly high", how high was it?
This is an empty tank, right?
