I have a 180gal with pressurized CO2. I have decided to supplement with Excel and I am wondering if I should dose per instructions or because I have pressurized CO2 if the dosing should be less than perscribed.

I searched the forums and couldn't find an answer to this so I apologize if it has been covered recently.

Thanks

dose it at the normal rate - any reason why you have decided to dose it along side the CO2?

Yes! :)

1) I am having a hard time getting enough CO2 in my tank because of its size. I don't want to fill my tank with multiple CO2 chambers and equipment. The single unit I have now is almost doing the job but not quite.

2) I am stuggling with some algae issues and want to see if using Excel helps the sitatution

180 gallon??? That'll use a bottle of Excel a week. lol

I would bet you are getting enough CO2 into the tank but not getting the distribution too well. No advice really as most people with large tanks will use 2 or more filters with inline reactors/diffusers.

Thanks for that. I have a powerhead moving the saturated water across the front of the tank so while the distrubution is far from perfect - I'm at least trying :)

In theory - I cannot run enough bubbles per second through the reactor to achieve the right level of CO2 on my tank. Close, but not enough for heavily planted and high lighting.

As for the Excel, I beleive I need to use 5ml for every 10 gallons. That would be 90ml per day or approximately 2.7L per month. So yeah - its a lot but I want to see what the effects are and decide if its worth it.

i missed the 180g, (i thought it was litres!)

2L = £35, 4L=£60

Is it really worth the cost? Why not just buy another CO2 system.

Its actually cheaper here in the states, but your point is still valid. I want to see what affects it has on my algae issue. It may be worth the cost alone just to keep that under control. I have had this tank in three different states with three different water types but for some reason I cannot seem to kick the algae problems in this current set up.

How much is it over there?

Having the additional pressurized system will be more cost affective, and fixing the low CO2 will stop it, just scrub it all offand you should see a decrease and if the levels are ok you shouldn't get anymore, providing the flow in the tank is ok
