Hi,

I have been using 2 Nutrifin reactors and lader diffusers for the last 5 months but I think its now time to go pressurised. I have been looking at the various options and have seen some reasonably priced systems about but there are a couple of questions I need answering:

1) Do I need a spare CO2 bottle ready to replace the one I'm using when it runs out?

2) Where do I get the bottles refilled?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

small soda stream bottles can be bought from home brew shops and refilled there, boots used to do them, not sure now

Hi,

You don't need a spare co2 bottle but its handy if you do, it means you have more time to fill your other bottle, you know what its like with work commitments, kids etc etc, your bottle runs out on a Monday and you cant get to the supplier till Friday/saturday DOH!!!! a spare bottle means problem solved IMO.

If your lucky your local fish shop might fill them for you, if not you can try welding supplies, beer gas suppliers.

IMO you need to check when you buy your co2 system, whether on not the regulator it will fit on a standard co2 bottle, there is a bit of an issue with JBl bottles as they have a larger then standard socket on the bottle that the regulator fit into, this make them difficult to fill by standard tackle.

I was lucky enough to get a 3.5kg co2 bottle for nothing, but before that i found a local beer gas supplier called J & R Gasses that would hire a 3.5kg co2 bottle £25 for a 5 year hire and £5 a fill.

I,ve seen people make there own pressurized systems, by shopping around and buying parts separately.
