Hi,
I am setting up a 12G tank. I am going for high tech setting with 3WPG (2 T5 18W).
I do not really want to mess around with DIY system and /or yeast method.
I looked around and think that the 2 following CO2 pressurised systems would be suitable. My preference would be for the DD system as it has a solenoid valve.
Can somebody share their experience (positive or negative with either system) or give me further recommendations?

Colombo Flora Grow CO2 Nano set

D-D Complete CO2 set

Thanks in advance.

D&D no contest. Becasue it uses single use CO2 welding cylinders, you can easily pick up 500/600g ones from hardware store for £8-£10.

That, and the solenoid, means you will save a lot of money in the long run in CO2 refills.

A Colombo refill is less than 1/5th the size AND more expensive, while you will be using CO2 from it during the night as well when you don't need it.

Even better IMO is the Aquili one: http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1047 .

I bought that one. It's £70, but you can get a 600g canister for it here ~£12: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/co2-gas-cylinder-600g/path/welding-consumables (I buy them in-store to save on postage).

Or you can buy a 1KG refillable one here for £12.50 shipped (never seen anyone use these, but I'm going to try soon): http://www.tools4trade.com/shop_productdetail.aspx?pid=4501164

You can even use fire extinguishers with it for maximum value for money (2kg extinguisher go for £15-£20 on eBay or UKAPS).

It doesn't come with a solenoid, but I use this one by Lunapet (link). It's much quieter than the competition and gets excellent reviews online :). You'll need a plug adapter for it though, they are like £1 from the shops or eBay too.

So that's a CO2 kit for about £110 total including CO2 and solenoid PLUS it comes with a glass diffuser and drop checker for measuring CO2, so it works out quite a bit cheaper than the D&D, where you would have to buy those separately.

You save £20-£50 compared to the D&D one.
