I did wonder about the requests for pics of pregnant platties. I've only ever seen 2 pregnant platties and your's seems to fit the bill so far. Is she trying to keep away from the group more than normal? In my limited experience, they've tried to keep out of the normal hustle and bustle.

I guess congratulations are in order!

How long have you suspected she was pregnant?

Just that she looks ready to pop and if we're talking only a few fry then
3 weeks is about average I think. Could be another week if she's expecting more - don't have a clue how to tell though!

BTW - platties are known to miscarry if they don't have the right conditions ie the fry die and the mother re-absorbs them. Sounds yucky I know, but it happens.

If she's looking ready to pop, you might want to isolate her in a fry net or use your quarantine tank. That is, if you actually want the fry!

Well I just got her about 4 days ago and on the 3rd day I noticed some gained weight now this I have 1 male

If you've only had her for a few days, I reckon she may have been pregnant when you got her. They normally go through stages over the few weeks, ie going off their food, then the sticking on their own and then the about to explode stage.

Looks like you're straight in at the eploding platty stage. You've been cuckholded mate.

Yea when I bought her she seemed quite large the only time shes not byherself is when shes with 1 fish that she usually hangs out with so when would you say i'll be getting the fry?
