hi people.

I HAVE NOW ADDED PICS, THOUGH THAY ARE NOT THE BEST AS SHE WOULD NOT KEEP STILL!!

I bought a white swordtail today. She looks pretty big and has a pale yellowy gravid spot with what looks like eyes. She also seems to be breathing pretty fast. Do you think she is going to drop? Having never had a swordtail i dont what to look for. I have mollies but i have never seen them give birth. Should i move her to a breeding net? Becks x

a pic would be good to determine this,
having a heavly pregnant fish transported home will almost without doubt cause her to go into labour. but with out a pic i cant say, the fact that you aint got swords already doesnt give you something to compare the size too.

well if she is i'd leave her be otherwise the stress of another move could cause her to abort, leave her then if you see any fry remove them :good:

i agree best leave her alone and turn tank lights off, she sounds stressed ive not had a pregnant fish breath hard even when having fry, also swords like swimming space and get large so i would not recomend a trap of any kind for them, down the line in time if you could maybe a breeding tank would be a good option, or lots of plants and hiding places in the main tank, all the best with her Donna x :good:
