'pregnant'? Upside Down Catfish?

Hi

I have four upside down catfish - I have had them for about 3 years. They are in a 2' x 2.5' x 1' tank with four penguins and two small loaches. They have been happy for 3 years and never had any disease etc.. the tank is very stable. Although they have all grown, I think there are two male & two female from their size differences. One of the large 'female?' ones has an enormous swollen belly. Could it be with eggs? I have read they do not reproduce in captivity? Could it be a serious disease like dropsy - they don't have scales so I cannot tell.

Any ideas?

Any red streaking or abnormal swimming? Is she still feeding and is she still active?

Hi

No red streaks, is moving and feeding normally. Water tested nitrites and ammonia approx 0 with nitrates 10mg/l.
